Note to self: must get tiny printsagram book of instagram photos — this is brilliant.
I didn’t want this week to go by without saying goodbye to a very special person. Del was the father of one of my dearest childhood friends, Tracy, and he passed away earlier this week. I haven’t seen him in years, unfortunately, but he made a lasting impression on my life because he kept me smiling through a lot of teenage angst. I was like a piece of furniture over at the Waggoner’s house because I spent nearly every Friday night there throughout high school. Del was a Texan through and through and was always making us laugh — both at him and at ourselves. I was just listening to this song by the Indigo Girls the other day which makes me cry on the best of days but especially so in light of this sad news this Christmas season. Farewell “Mr. Wags”!
Lots more to love from Fired Earth. I’m really tempted to rip up the tiles in my bathroom floor and install the Belgian Blues in the top image when I hit the lotto with a big win tonight. I really love those.
I can’t believe I haven’t posted about his yet but the end of September brought some exciting news — a group of local parents and I have been campaigning to get a new school started in the area under the Educate Together patronage. This has been a long-time effort almost two years in the making. We were very excited to hear that we’d won our bid and we recently announced that the school is going to be called “Shellybanks” which is what the locals historically called the beach near our house at Sandymount Strand. We’ve received so many positive comments about the name as it seems to conjure up a lot of positive imagery for people. More to come but you can see our campaign website here: dublin4educatetogether.ie which will soon be redirected to our new site!
This may just be the first photo I’ve posted of myself but I also don’t have many pics with my first “child”, Tilly. This sweet baby dog drives me a little crazy now and again, but mostly, she’s kept me incredibly sane for the last five years. Thanks to Jessica at Comfy Photography for taking this photo of us together!
